Bitcoin ATM Market Dynamics August 2018

This August started with a Bitcoin price of $7,571 and continued to decrease until it hit the lowest price $6,051 somewhere in the middle of the month. After that, the prices started to grow nearing the end of the month. August ended with a Bitcoin price of $7,248 which is a 4,3% decrease compared to the price at the beginning of the month.

Unlike the price fluctuating trajectory, the number of new machines continues to grow. Compared to the previous month, the growth was considerably higher in August.

This month General Bytes took back the first place at this list with 96 additions (10.4% increase). Such drastic increase in installations is connected to previous removed Cointed machines, which were taken over by Avatar Tech operator and reintroduced on the market. Genesis Coin remained at second spot with 18 new installations (1.5% increase). Coinsource made it to the third place with 17 new machines (9.6% increase), as opposed to July when they weren’t at the list at all. Bytefederal was also active this month by adding 11 machines and almost doubled their numbers (91.7% increase). Covault was the manufacturer that experienced a decrease in the number of machines this August. They reduced their numbers by 8 (6.8% decrease). BBFpro added new machines in August, however, in September Russian regulation decided to seize all machines, without prior notification.

Austrian Operator BITMAT tops the list this month with 28 new machines (57.1% increase) while Coinsource made it back to the list with 17 new installations (9.6% increase). On the third place is Localcoin which added 15 new machines (16% increase). Other operators that made more than 10 new installations this month are CoinFlip with 11 additions (13.4% increase) and ByteFederal LLC with 11 new additions (28.2% increase).

As always United States are the country with most machines added. In August 70 new machines are installed on the US ground (3.5% increase). But unlike previous months, we have change on the second place. Austria with 41 new machines (27% increase) took it from Canada that fell down to third with 21 new installations (3.9% increase). Following Canada, as in July, there are Russian Federation with 9 installations (13.2% increase) and United Kingdom with 7 installations (4.1%).

In August, the percentage of alternative cryptocurrencies accepted in ATM’s increased to 57%. As in July, Bitcoin Cash is the coin that was activated on most machines this month, 276 new locations (38.23% increase) added where one can buy or potentially sell Bitcoin Cash. This time Litecoin took the second place by being added into 248 ATM’s (14.34% increase), while Bitcoin remained on third place by being accepted in 191 new machines (5.51% increase). This month we have a situation where some coins were removed from ATM’s: Monero 4 removals (-5.88% decrease), Dogecoin 5 removals (-11.36% decrease), Zcash 7 removals (-14.00% decrease).

Summary

This August the Bitcoin price fluctuated which resulted in a slight decrease at the end of the month. Manufacturers General Bytes and Genesis Coin installed the most machines. The average Operators machine increase was around 6 per day. Austria made it to the second place at the countries list. Bitcoin Cash remains the most added coin.
